Alan Schulman

ALAN SCHULMAN

Alan Schulman (1953-2020) was a Grammy-winning producer, arranger, engineer and songwriter who grew up in north Alabama and lived in Florence for many years. After graduating from Auburn University, he took a job with Leon Russell's Shelter Records in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Schulman returned to the Shoals to work for David Johnson at Broadway Sound Studio, and eventually moved to Wishbone, where he collaborated with Mac McAnnally on several albums. Other artists with whom Schulman has worked include Chris Ledoux, Widespread Panic, Alabama, Manhattan Transfer, Jimmy Buffett, and Ricky Skaggs. He received a pair of Grammy awards for his work on Skaggs' Soldier of the Cross and Bluegrass Rules albums.
