MAC McANALLY

Mac McAnally is a country music producer, musician and singer-songwriter. Over the last forty years, he has released ten solo studio albums and eight singles. His very first single, “It’s a Crazy World,” reached number 37 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1977.

McAnally grew up in north Mississippi, learning to sing and play piano at an early age. By the time he was fifteen, he had written his first song. His first session as a studio musician was at Wishbone in Muscle Shoals, where he went on to record his first four albums as a solo artist. He also played on sessions for other artists during this time at nearby FAME and Muscle Shoals Sound studios.

A member of fellow Mississippian Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band since the early 1980s, McAnally remains a prolific solo artist and songwriter. His credits as a writer include Alabama’s number-one country hit “Old Flame,” co-written with Donny Lowery, and the Ricky Van Shelton single “Crimes of Passion,” which he wrote with Walt Aldridge. McAnally is also an accomplished producer, having worked with Restless Heart, Sawyer Brown, John Lefebvre and others, and he is a nine-time recipient of the Country Music Association’s “Musician of the Year” award.
